More than 20 teachers from 18 high schools across Texas gathered in Fredericksburg this summer to learn ways to use rocketry to help their students understand applied physics.

New and returning teachers from participating high schools spent the week exploring the SystemsGo Aeroscience program. This curriculum advocates an innovative approach to learning science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) based on the work Fredericksburg High School teacher Brett Williams and supported and developed by Ignite Education, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

The innovative curriculum uses project-based models to teach science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). The teachers designed, built, and launched rockets, and heard former NASA engineers. They will return to Fredericksburg at the end of the school year with their students to launch their rockets at the Meek Ranch.
